Bahar Takhtehchian Talks Motherhood and Babywearing

Leading into one of our favorite holidays, the Baby K'tan office is placing its focus on giving thanks. To celebrate Thanksgiving, we reached out to a number of parents that we have come to know in recent months. Every individual has their own personal story, and we are grateful that they are allowing us to share their thoughts on thankfulness, babywearing and the early days of parenting. We think you'll enjoy what they have to share.

Meet Bahar Takhtehchian - a new mom, wife, and freelance journalist who you may have seen as a regular on shows like TODAY and Wendy Williams.

Bahar was kind enough to share her thoughts on motherhood, what she's most thankful for this year, and how babywearing has helped her bond with her baby boy. She offers wonderful insight into those early days of motherhood. You won't regret taking the time to read her thoughts.

Q. Bahar, you are a talented on-air expert in the beauty and lifestyle space. Many of our moms may be familiar with you because you are a regular contributor to TODAY. What else do you want fellow moms to know about you?

A. I am a first time mom who’s trying to balance motherhood, life, and my career. I have always been a great multi-tasker, but motherhood requires you to juggle things on another level. I am sharing my personal experiences and the ups and downs of motherhood on my blog at BaharTak.com and on my social media handles: @BaharTak

Q. You became a mom very recently to an adorable son. What are you most thankful for when it comes to motherhood at this juncture?

A. I have always loved babies and now I finally have a baby boy of my own. I am thankful that we are both thriving nicely and learning to navigate this new world together. Plus, there's nothing better than seeing my baby boy smile or hearing him laugh!

Q. As a working mom who makes her health a priority what have been some key things that have ensured your success (and sanity!) as you have added the role of mom into the mix?

A. I try to find 30 minutes a day to exercise. Not only does this keep me healthy, but it helps me relieve stress as well. I have also made sure to carve out some “me time” every week, whether that means getting a facial, massage, or meeting up with a friend for coffee or a drink.

Q. You recently discovered our Baby K’tan Baby Carrier – how has that helped in your day-to-day life as a new mom? What advice would you offer other babywearing moms?

A. My baby boy loves to cuddle, so the carrier allows me to cuddle him while getting work done around the house. I was intimated to use the carrier at first, but my advice to other moms is to  watch the videos online, be patient, and enjoy how lovely it is to hold your baby close.

Q. What advice would you give other new moms for navigating the early days of motherhood as you look back at your first months with your baby boy?

A. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. The early days of motherhood are filled with anxiety, pain, stress, and sleepless nights. While many of us want to “do it all,” most of us simply can’t. If your friends want to bring over dinner, let them. If your in-laws want to babysit, take them up on it. If your partner’s home during the weekend, let him or her take the early shift so you can sleep in!

We here at Baby K'tan are grateful for the moms and dads who have found our Baby K'tan Baby Carrier to be a nurturing and helpful part of their daily lives. On Wednesday, we will share a Preemie Dad's story. He is sharing their amazing journey and why babywearing with out lightweight baby carrier has become such an important part of their daily life.
